Recycled sari silk yarn knits/crochets up really quick, soft, silky and shiny so it is best used for projects like scarves, neck warmers, cowls, shawls, stoles, bags, pouches and cushions. The finished knit or crocheted product will have a strong and firm quality and at the same time has a soft and slightly fuzzy texture. They are great for textile embellishment as well.
This yarn is made from 100% recycled sari silk fibre left over during the sari manufacturing process. During the making of Saris in India, a lot of small finer threads of various colors are left over from the looms, which are then collected together. These are cleansed manually and then spun using the Takli (Drop Spindle) or the Charkha (Spinning Wheel) in villages. This is mainly a cottage industry which supports them financially.
Note: Color may differ slightly from photos due to different monitor settings.
